Emma & Damon
The stunning surroundings of @pratisbarns set the perfect scene as Emma and Damon celebrated their love. 💫
Emma was a vision in one of our sustainable gowns from the With Love, Mirka collection — beautifully designed and crafted from recycled fabrics. ☘️
How would you describe your Mirka Bridal Couture experience?
It was a breath of fresh air compared to other bridal boutiques - Mirka was so personable and invested in her creations. I was so pleased to be buying my dress locally from someone so talented. From trying on different styles to crafting the dress of my dreams - I knew I was in the right hands.
Can you tell us a bit about your dress?
I loved that I was able to tweak my dress to suit my body type and style. The fabric was made from Mirka’s sustainable range with the skirt section being an Aztec pattern, and the bodice section having a beautiful subtle floral design. I worked with Mirka on how deep the V-neck would be and adjusted the structure and lining to have a narrow see through panel at the neckline and waist, which I felt gave the appearance of my waist being cinched in - without and tightness or corset required! We also went with a bit more of a train to give a little bit of drama, and Mirka made me a perfect veil to match.
When did you know you had found the dress for you?
As soon as I walked into Mirka’s boutique I spotted the Rhea and loved the shape, style and the feel of the fabric. I showed Mirka some pictures of sleeves and touches I would like and she was excited to develop something new with me.
How did you find the process of having a dress made to measure for you?
It was a relief to know my dress would be made to fit me instead of working around a certain dress type. At my first fitting try on I got to see the structure take shape with the underlining of the dress, and I was so thrilled to feel good when it wasn’t even the final product yet!
Did you end up choosing a dress in the style you thought you were going to go for or was it something completely different?
I definitely thought I’d go for something more structured with an underskirt etc - but once I tried those types of dresses on I realised they just weren’t me and weren’t easy to walk in! It was so nice to be able to try on some more relaxed styles at Mirka’s and see what shape suited.
How did you feel in your dress on the day?
As soon as I got into my dress on the day I felt like a bride and was desperate to get down that aisle to show everyone especially my husband-to-be! It was so comfortable all day and even with a longer train was easy to dance in until the small hours!
Tell us more about your big day/ What was your biggest wedding inspiration?
We wanted a relaxed, festival vibe. We love Glastonbury and festivals where you can go off and find fun things to do. We made lanyards that had a map of the venue with our suppliers on it so our guests could explore at their own leisure to see the saxophonist, illustrator, magician or leave us an audio message! At night we had a glitter bar, photobooth and band.
What is your favourite picture from your wedding day and why is this image so special to you?
My favourite picture is me and my husband walking into dinner to one of our favourite songs, with our heart glasses on (branded with wedding logo of course!) smiling and happy with my raised hand in the air. Even though the photo is just of us I can still remember everyone standing and cheering us into the room as husband and wife.
Finally, do you have any advice for future brides visiting Mirka Bridal Couture?
Take your time, try on different styles and don’t be afraid to ask for tweaks or changes throughout the journey! And if you have a while between starting the process and your wedding (ours was around a year) try to be patient and confident that Mirka has it all in hand and will create the dress of your dreams!
