Kathryn and Mark
Kathryn and Mark celebrated their love in the beautiful lawn ceremony space at Backhouse Rossie. Surrounded by nature and summer light, it was the perfect backdrop for a joyful and unforgettable day.
How would you describe your Mirka Bridal Couture experience?
My experience was very easy and relaxed. There was nothing too much trouble for Mirka and it felt very exclusive that we were the only people in the boutique when I had my initial visit and fittings. Mirka even made a handfasting ribbon and added some floral details to it to match my dress as Mark had a tartan ribbon to match his kilt so it brought everything together.
Can you tell us a bit about your dress?
I had been wedding dress shopping at 2 previous shops and liked the top half of one dress and the bottom half of another so I contacted Mirka to see if she could combine the two styles and of course she said she could 🥰 I tried on a couple of Mirka’s sample dresses and loved the floral pattern on her Celine design so we used that as the base and adjusted the design to fit my idea.
When did you know you had found the dress for you?
When Mirka handed me a sketch of the dress shape and sample of the fabric that would be used, I could visualise the dress and it made saying yes very easy ☺️
Why did you choose a bespoke wedding dress?
I liked the idea of having a unique dress to me. Every dress I tried on had at least one thing I would change and the bespoke dress meant that this was not the case.
How did you find the process of having a dress made to measure for you?
It was great! I chose my dress well over a year in advance and then fell pregnant so we had our 4 month old son with us on the wedding day. Having the dress made to measure meant there was no anxiety about whether it would fit and Mirka made sure I had more than one dress fitting and the final one was close to the wedding day so we were confident it was going to fit perfectly.
Did you end up choosing a dress in the style you thought you were going to go for or was it something completely different?
I was pretty confident that I wanted strapless and a floaty skirt but the floral detail was a surprise and perfect for our venue - the ceremony was outside in a walled garden.
How did you feel in your dress on the day?
I felt amazing on the day 🥰 The dress was so snug I didn’t feel like it was falling down at any point (that was my worry with it being strapless) but it was also loose enough that as the day went on it didn’t feel too tight. I had lots of compliments on the unusual detail in the bodice too!
Tell us more about your big day/ What was your biggest wedding inspiration?
We loved that our wedding day was a reflection of us and everything we like and choosing a ‘DIY’ venue meant that it was bespoke to us. Because we wanted the ceremony to be outside and within the gardens, a lot of inspiration was taken from florals and earthy colours from the brown in the kilts to the dusty rose for the bridesmaids and continued with the stationery and signage on the day.
What is your favourite picture from your wedding day and why is this image so special to you?
My favourite photo is the photo of Mark, Ben and I. Looking back I can’t believe how small Ben was on our wedding day but I’m so glad we were able to have him be a part of it in his tartan shorts 🙊
Finally, do you have any advice for future brides visiting Mirka Bridal Couture?
If you’re just starting your wedding dress search - don’t be afraid to try on styles you don’t think you’ll like! You may be surprised. And Mirka will make everything perfect so trust the process 🤍
